Academic Writing and Self-Access Language Learning (AWSALL)
An academic writing skills tutorial service focusing on self-access language learning (SALL) is now available at the Language Centre for UGC-funded undergraduate and postgraduate students to improve their academic writing skills. Students will need to take a writing pre-test or provide a writing sample for diagnostic purposes. Each student will then meet with a Language Advisor to discuss the writing issues he/she has and complete SALL tasks in his/her own time. Please note that this service is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
By joining this service, you will be able to:
(1) Improve your academic writing skills at a place and time that suit you most
(2) Identify areas for improvement and engage in self-access language learning by completing tasks on academic writing pathways (content, organization, grammar, vocabulary and in-text citations/referencing skills)
(3) Receive language advice from your Language Advisor either face-to-face or online
(4) Monitor and control your own progress of learning
Eligibility:
UGC-funded undergraduates and postgraduate students, particularly suited to students taking University English I and II courses.
No. of Sessions:
3 consultation sessions per semester for undergraduate students, and
5 consultation sessions per academic year for postgraduate students
This service will be provided face-to-face or via Zoom depending on students’ preferred option.
