Abstract:
Due to developments in the US, where the political influence of Elon Musk, Peter Thiel and others has skyrocketed, public awareness of the bundle of ideologies that have shaped the thinking of these tech oligarchs and others has increased sharply. It is now often referred to as TESCREAL, which stands for transhumanism, extropianism, singularitarianism, cosmism, rationalist ideology, effective altruism and long-termism. There are many connections and similarities between these ideologies and religious longings and ways of thinking. Against the backdrop of the debate about similarities between Gnosticism and transhumanism, the question of Gnostic elements in TESCREAL is of particular interest.
